1. Put your USB drive in the right way the first time

Plugging in a USB cable feels really easy. But it’s more common than you think for people to get it wrong on the first try.

Here’s the secret: grab any USB cable you see around your house, as long as it’s long enough. You’ll notice one of the two symbols on each end. One of them will be an upward pointing arrow if it plugs in horizontally or a downward pointing arrow if it plugs in vertically.

2. Reopen a closed browser tab

It’s such an easy thing to do – you’ve got a dozen tabs open and you close the wrong one. You can reopen your browser history and find the tab you were on before, or you could do it with just a couple of keystrokes.

If you accidentally close a tab, use Ctrl+Shift+T on PC or Command+Shift+T on Mac to automatically reopen it.

3. Share a YouTube video at a precise point

If you see something you want to share in a YouTube video, you can get a link that goes directly to that moment. It’ll save a lot of time & effort and people will be able to find the information they want more easily. Click the Share button. You will see a checkbox below the Play button that displays the current time of your video.

Link to this time or share a different one. Copy the link, paste it on your preferred social window, and share it with friends — when they click the link, they’ll be able to skip right to the point you want them at in just over a minute.

4. Search using “Site:” to find content like a ninja

Google is a search engine that returns millions of results. But with Google’s Site: feature, you can cut down on the outcome and search just one site. Here’s how to do it: Open Google in your browser and type “site:” followed by the website you want to search like this: “site:creativetechnews.com”

Tip: You can enter “site:creativetechnews.com” search term” in your browser’s address bar for an efficient search that will yield results on Komando.com, saving you time and effort.

5. Report junk texts and stick it to the scammers

Unsolicited text messages are really annoying. You can tell them to stop texting you, but there is a lot of satisfaction in taking action

6. Use your voice in Google Docs

You probably already use Apple’s Siri or Google Voice Typing to create text messages and emails, but did you know you can do the same on your computer? It’s free and there are a bunch of great features. Open a document in Google Docs and hit the ‘Tools’ menu in order to toggle Voice Typing on. It will recognize ‘comma’, ‘period’, and other commands as you speak, which will help considerably when typing.

7. Download movies on Disney Plus

Every streaming service has different download and offline viewing policies. If a content holder wants to restrict downloading and viewing options, there’s not much that can be done about it. Until last year, Netflix was the only popular streaming service that didn’t allow for offline downloads, but Disney+ offers this option from the get-go. Once the download button is clicked, you can pick up to wherever on your computer you want to save the Disney Plus app.

8. Crop a screenshot

One of the most common practices for sharing a screenshot is to capture the entire screen and things get blurry. However, if you can crop the screenshots into your precise point of interest and shut out everything else, then there’s no risk at all!

For Mac to start recording your screen, press Command + Shift + 3. This will create a rectangle on the screen that you can edit and make as big or small as you want.

Windows 10 also offers a snipping tool, to capture the screen in a snapshot. Simply enter the search bar and type “snip.” or “press PrintScreen” This should bring up a box you can manipulate with your cursor to take whatever kind of screenshot you want!

9. Search WhatsApp chats

Messages add up over time, no matter how often you check a platform. It’s hard to find that hilarious quote or vital address when they’re buried in a pile of other messages. WhatsApp may be the most-downloaded app of the decade, but many users are unaware that you can search your messages. This is just like Google.

There is a search bar available for iOS versions and a search icon for Android. Do your searches using keywords that are specific to that conversation to find the exact message you are looking for.

10. Unsend an email

Did you accidentally send an email to your whole team instead of one person? If so, adjust your settings before starting a new draft. Visit this page

This recall of a message will also allow you to modify spelling mistakes, incorrect recipients, subject lines, and even append forgotten attachments.

You should be sure to adjust the setting to a higher number than 5 seconds as the default setting is not enough even if you realize there’s an error. Thankfully, Gmail provides a way to pause messages before sending them, which adds an extra layer of protection.
