Realme X7 Max Review

Realme X7 Max

The Realme X7 Max is India’s first phone with the MI-1200 Processor. It tries to combine the benefits of flagship and a budget phone. For those who want the best in performance, 120Hz AMOLED display and camera, you’ll be happy to know the Realme X7 Max is really good.

The Realme X7 Max is the newest flagship-quality smartphone that starts at a price that’s unheard of, much less seen. But it has some compromises and some upgrades over the five-month-old Realme X7 Pro.

The Realme X7 Max is the company’s first phone with a triple camera setup. It has a 48-megapixel primary lens, a 5-megapixel depth sensor, and an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens. The phone also has a 16-megapixel front camera which is capable of taking bokeh shots.

The Realme X7 Max also has a 6.5-inch FHD+ display with an aspect ratio of 19:9 and it comes with the latest Android Pie out of the box. The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 SoC coupled with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card slot.

Despite having many brands in the sub Rs 30k price range, the Realme X7 Max is ready to stand out with specs that are comparable with some of its more popular competitors like Xiaomi Mi 11X.

The Realme X7 Max is a rebranded version of the Realme GT Neo from China. The star of the show here is the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 flagship processor which also makes its debut in India. You can expect this new Qualcomm chip to perform well not only under day-to-day usage, but also when running games or performing other resource-intensive tasks.

Although the display is slightly smaller than the Realme X7 Pro across a 6.43-inch with Full HD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh, we weren’t too impressed with the design of the phone as it didn’t give us a premium feel.

Turning to the cameras, the Realme X7 Max performs well in terms of primary cameras and also has an ultra-wide and macro lens which perform fairly well too. If you’re a selfie addict, this phone is made for you.

With a 4500mAh battery unit, the Realme X7 Max delivers an excellent battery life. It is also worth mentioning that in terms of charging speed, it is also at par with 30W chargers but this does not support wireless charging and network frequencies.

For those who love to consume content on the phone and play games with earphones, the Realme X7 Max has stereo speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack that is perfect for mobile gamers. The new phone will also let you enjoy games like Battleground Mobile India without any interruptions.

The Realme X7 Max is a good option for those who are looking for fast performance, an excellent display, a solid camera, and powerful battery life. Starting at Rs 26,999 it’s priced lower than the Xiaomi Mi 11X and the iQoo 7 by approximately Rs 5,000 (US$70). We’re really glad to see them coming up with new.

Realme X7 Max price in India and availability

The Realme X7 Max is available in India with two options: 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, or 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The base variant costs Rs 26,999, while the more expensive version costs Rs 29,999. The color options are Mercury Silver and Asteroid. The Milky Way coloring option will be available in India later. Realme X7 Max phones will be sold on Flipkart.

Its closest competitor is the Xiaomi Mi 11X, which is priced at Rs 6,599 for a 6GB+128GB variant, and the 8GB+128GB is priced at Rs 7,499. For iQoo, they come in three variants ー 8GB+128 GB, 8Gb+256 GB, and 12Gb+256 GB priced at Rs

When we saw the Realme X7 MAX in the pictures, we were pretty impressed and excited to test out the device. But things changed as soon as the device was in our hands. To start, the Realme X7 Max comes in three colors: mercury silver, asteroid black, and milky way. We are testing the mercury silver model and here are our thoughts.

The Realme X7 Max has a glossy camera strip and the rest of the back with a sandstone finish. Realme removed the big Brands logo from the back and placed it on a small box on the glossy strip at the bottom. This way they’re more in line with other phone manufacturers like Samsung. Many users were not fans of the branding. The size and weight of the device is also a factor that’s worth considering, it weighs only 179g and has an 8.4mm thickness.

The Redmi Note 7 Pro has a fairly good in-hand feel, but many prefer the Realme X7’s even though it might look different. Perhaps this is because the rear of this device has a matte finish, which some may find hard to get used to. The headphone jack also returns which is a welcome change and the device is also IPX4 rated.

You can’t fault the phone’s visuals. You’re looking at a 6.43″ Samsung-made Super AMOLED display with a 2400 x 1080 pixels resolution which runs smoothly on a 120Hz screen refresh rate, so whatever you’re doing on your phone you are sure to be satisfied, no matter the task. The display of the Transparent Revolution has many impressive features. For one, it can sample touch up to 360 times a second, and the screen to body ratio is 91.7%. It also has a 100% coverage of DCI-P3 colors and an “always-on” This display features both light sensors for increased convenience.

The Realme X7 Max also supports HDR10, HLG, and Widevine L1 certification for HD playback on popular OTT platforms like Netflix. Unfortunately, during our test, we could not watch any HDR content on Netflix. The high refresh rate should be enough for most people.

The screen is bright and in colors that are easy on the eyes and properly contrasted which makes it easier to read or watch content. The brightness of the X7 Max is about average to read under the sun. The display still isn’t as good as what we saw on the Mi 11X, but it should be enough for most people to use.

The fingerprint scanner is located on the display, which is quite fast. However, the face unlock tends to work faster and doesn’t require you to use the fingerprint scanner at all.

Realme is pushing boundaries with new technology in every product. is one of the first to launch a MediaTek processor, the Realme X7 Max has an excellent Dimensity 1200 CPU. The Density 1200 is an octa-core chipset consisting of one octa-core Ultra Arm Cortex-A78 core clocked at 3GHz The ARM Cortex-A78 is said to deliver 22% better CPU performance, with 25% less power consumption than the previous generation

The GPU is handled by Arm Mali-G77 MC9 and the company also offers HyperEngine 3.0 to provide better performance in advanced graphics when gaming. To regulate thermals, the Realme X7 Max has a stainless steel vapor-cooling system. This can reduce the temperature by up to 15°C.

The Realme X7 Max performed well in day-to-day tasks, even with heavy usage and during intense gaming sessions. The phone doesn’t overheat, so you can game for as long as you need to without worrying about any issues. It comes in two variants – 8GB RAM and 128GB storage or 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.

The Realme X7 Max comes with a three-camera setup on the rear with a 64MP Sony IMX682 main camera with f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP macro lens. Selfies are handled by a 16MP selfie shooter on the front, housed inside a punch-holed display.

The camera modes for this device span a variety of functions like the new PureRAM mode which helps to reduce noise and bring out high-definition images. You also have AI Passport Photo, Portrait, Super Nightscape, and 960 fps Slow-mo.

The primary camera captures superb images at 16MP. The images come out crisp and detailed with a good dynamic range and saturation level. There is also a reasonably-well balanced white balance when taking pictures on the primary camera. As with most other phones, the Realme image processing also tends to over saturate the images a bit, but that’s what most users like, and it’s not overly done to make the image look fake. The HDR mode will provide you with better and more vibrant shots if that’s what you need.

The camera clicks from humans are also processed pretty well. It has a good depth of field and sharpness during the daytime. During the night, there is a dedicated night mode where noise and other details are reduced.

You can think of the secondary 8MP sensor like a wide-angle lens on your camera: it’s wider and might have less color fidelity. The dynamic range is also not as good as the main 12MP sensor you’re using. But at first glance, the quality looks pretty good.

The 2MP macro camera is good for close-ups and the shots are detailed given you have enough patience to wait for the focus. While this is not the Xiaomi Mi 11X, it is good at macro photography situations.

The Realme X7 Pro comes with a 4,500mAh battery unit, meanwhile, the Realme X7 Max has a 5,000mAh battery. They both have different fast charging options too – with the Pro providing 65W and the Max providing 50W. However, you get an adapter in the box that is compatible with both of them at 100W.

The battery life of the device was above average. With intensive use of social media and a few minutes of gaming, the phone can last a whole day with five to six hours of screen-time which should be enough for most people. After testing a wide variety of smartphones in this segment, we believe that the OnePlus Nord CE is still the best one.

The phone does, however, take about an hour to charge from 5% to 100%. It’s not worse than a lot of other cheaper phones, but it’s still slower than we would hope. For example, the Realme 8 with a 5000mAh battery charges to 100% in an hour using a 30W charger. The same device from OnePlus, with the same battery capacity as the Realme X7 Max and also using a 30W charger, takes 60 minutes.
